Let’s dive in!

What are LinkedIn Events?

LinkedIn events are a specific feature of the networking site that makes it easy for you to create and host webinar-like events for your connections and followers.

LinkedIn events differ from other uses of the platform in a few key ways:
  • Interactive: LinkedIn events are interactive, allowing you to engage with attendees in real time. This can be a powerful way to provide value and build relationships with potential clients.
  • Visibility: LinkedIn events are visible to a larger audience compared to making posts or comments. They are visible to the host's connections and their connections, and they can also be streamed to the host's followers using LinkedIn Live.
  • Credibility: Hosting an event on LinkedIn can help establish credibility and position the host as an expert in their field. By sharing valuable content and insights, hosts can build trust and establish themselves as a reliable source of information.
  • Control: LinkedIn events give hosts greater control over the content and format of their interactions with potential clients. They can tailor the event to meet the needs and interests of their target audience and engage with them in a way that is most effective for their business.

Ready to host your own LinkedIn event?

  1. Creating a new Linkedin event is easy:
  2. Go to your LinkedIn profile and click on the "More" dropdown menu.
  3. Select "Events" from the menu.
  4. Click on the "Create Event" button.
  5. Fill in the event details, including the title, description, location, date and time, and any other relevant information.
  6. Choose the audience for your event by selecting "Invite Connections" or "Invite Only."
  7. If you choose "Invite Only," you can select specific connections or groups to invite to the event.
  8. Click "Create Event" to finish setting up your event.
  9. Once your event is set up, you can promote it by sharing it on your LinkedIn feed and inviting your connections to attend. You can also create posts leading up to the event to get participants excited and share valuable content and insights.
  10. On the day of the event, you can use LinkedIn Live to stream your event to your followers. This is a great way to engage with your audience and provide value in real-time.

Want to ensure your event has a full house?
  • Invite all of your current connections and start spreading the word!
  • Publish a few posts leading up to the event to get participants excited and really drive value proposition. Reveal some of the benefits they’ll receive by attending, or what risks they’re taking by not.
  • Have any hot leads in your network already? Send some personalized messages to connections you think would be likely to attend (or maybe even ask them to spread the word!).

The money is in the follow up

Like every other sales funnel out there, you will encounter prospects who:

  • Attend but don’t book a call or show interest in your services.
  • Register for the event but don’t attend.
  • Never purchase your services at all.

While a very small percentage of your prospects will attend the event and purchase your services right away, the majority will fall in the categories above.

Because of this, it is essential that you set up a funnel communication sequence, to convert as many of these event attendees as possible. While you should be personalizing the copy to match your agency’s specific offer, your sequence should include:

  1.  Registration confirmation email.
  2. Send thank you message with an action reminder (for example: “Reserve your seat at our event!”)
  3. If they completed their registration, send a thank you email.
    a. If they did not complete the registration, send two follow up messages.
    b. No response to any emails? Stop communication for this funnel.
  4. Event reminder emails (1 week before, 48 hours before, 24 hours before, 1 hour before).
  5. Post-event attendance call to action (Thanks for attending, book a sales call).
    c. If the prospect registered but didn’t attend, send a  “We missed you” email, with instructions to reschedule, or book a call instead.
  6. If the prospect does not book a call post-event, send one to two more follow up emails, (depending on if they opened previous email or not).
